NORTHERN TRUST BANK - WEST LAKE FOREST

Repeat business is a hallmark of Melichar Architects. Ten years after the firm created a home for the Northern Trust's investment counselors, they had outgrown it. More space was needed for client service, administration and back-office functions. Again, Melichar Architects provided an innovative solution. The only contiguous space large enough to meet the investment counselors' needs was the second-floor attic. Used largely for storage, it was a dark, cramped space with an awkward floor layout and sloping ceilings. The bank was skeptical that it could be converted to functional office space consistent with a sophisticated corporate image. Despite many design challenges, we created an outstanding new facility. We then renovated vacated first floor spaces for Personal Banking.
