BARAT COLLEGE REDEVELOPMENT

Located at the historic southern gateway to the City of Lake Forest, this once proud religious women's college had fallen into decline and was eventually sold to our client for residential redevelopment. At the heart of this 24-acre campus is the historic Old Main, designed by religious architects Egan and Prindeville in the Georgian Revival style. The structure, with its red brick and stone walls, topped by a slate roof crowned with an ornate cupola, has been a fixture in the community for over 100 years.

Rehabilitated and developed into a 50-unit condominium building, Old Main will be the generator of our proposed campus redevelopment, whose proposed plan is based on traditional Beaux Arts principals of axial and interlocking public spaces and parks. The new Georgian Revival-inspired neighborhood also consists of 35 new town homes and 35 new single-family attached dwellings.

Attention to detail is evident, from the overall land plan and landscape planning, to the Georgian style buildings and site accoutrements, including bridges, fountains, and street lighting.
