The new residence we created for our clients satisfied a dream. They aspired to build a home in the grand tradition of turn-of-the-century North Shore estates. Their new residence sits on a 25-acre site overlooking Lake Michigan. From its interior spatial organization to its exterior details and symmetrical front facade, the design style is authentically Italian Renaissance. Plans for the residence are on permanent exhibit in Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History. The Chicago Athenaeum featured the project in a juried exhibit of the city's finest homes.
Melichar Architects later added a 15-stall stable for the polo grounds. This building featuresan office, entertaining facility and stone terraces.
